All our logs are grown in sustainably managed forests and are kiln dried, cut and split in Scotland. Our Stovewood logs are predominantly kiln dried Larch. There can also be kiln dried Pine in the bag depending on availability in the yard at the time. All of our Stovewood is kiln dried down to an average moisture content of 15% making them ready to burn and guaranteed to get your fire roaring. They are ideal for customers who enjoy the warmth and glow of their stove but do not rely on it for heating their whole home as it doesn’t burn quite as long or hot as kiln dried hardwood. The kiln drying process removes any excess moisture and resin from the Larch, this means that it burns with minimal sparking. The low moisture content of the logs helps to protect your chimney and wood burner as only minimal amounts of soot are produced. If you currently use seasoned wood then you will notice that your stove glass is suddenly much clearer and barely needing cleaned! Stovewood grows in abundance in Scotland unlike hardwood. This makes it a much more sustainable product compared to hardwood. Phytophthara Ramorum is a disease currently affecting Larch in Scotland but it is under control thanks to the measures put in place by the Scottish Forestry Action Plan.
