How much do I love this book? Honestly, this book deserves all the stars. The book opens as Maggie’s ship suffers a devastating collision leaving her injured and alone – stranded in the middle of nowhere. She has no engineer and no way to repair the ship on her own. And, since she’s taken an unauthorised shortcut across uncharted space, she’s not going to be rescued. She discovers another dead ship hanging in space not too far away, so she manages to limp over to it. The much larger ship may have supplies she can use to get herself back to civilisation.Surprise, though! It’s not just any ship. It’s a ship that went missing at the edge of known space two months ago – a ship that just happened to be the home of Maggie’s ex-wife. The ex she’s very much not over. Almost all the crew are gone, leaving just one woman aboard: Lidia. And yet… In a way, this book isn’t about any of that. It’s about Maggie learning to love and accept herself for who she is. For all that she is.Matthew Metzger mostly writes romance, which is very much not my thing. But if he writes anymore SFF, I will read all of it. Twice.
